Alexandros Georgiades is a partner in Chrysostomides’ Intellectual Property Department. He advises clients across pharmaceuticals, technology, software, video games, and other innovation-driven sectors, providing practical and business-focused solutions for protecting, enforcing, and commercialising intellectual property rights in Cyprus and internationally.
He has extensive experience in patents, Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs), trademarks, copyright, and designs, with particular expertise in copyright and licensing issues for software and video games. Alexandros regularly advises on ownership, authorship, rights management, enforcement, and consumer protection obligations in both traditional and digital environments. His practice also covers IP licensing, anti-counterfeiting measures, and regulatory compliance for products and digital services.
Beyond intellectual property, Alexandros advises on a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters. He drafts and negotiates distribution, franchise, and licensing agreements, guiding clients—particularly foreign principals—on their relationships with local distributors, agents, franchisees, and licensees. His work includes advising on contractual issues such as termination, post-termination compensation, and compliance with local commercial laws.
Alexandros also specialises in e-commerce, digital platforms, data protection, and consumer law. He helps clients establish and operate online businesses in full compliance with regulatory and consumer protection requirements, ensuring their digital operations, streaming platforms, and cloud-based services meet both local and EU standards.

Over the years Alexandros has acquired significant experience in trademark and patent prosecution, litigation and copyright protection, as well as anti-counterfeiting work and procedures before the Cyprus Customs and other competent Authorities.
In the field of pharmaceutical law, Alexandros frequently advises clients on a wide range of matters such as procedures for the grant and protection of pharmaceutical patents and SPC’s, regulatory issues on the distribution and sale of pharmaceutical products and medical devices in Cyprus and public procurement.
In the field of IP litigation, Alexandros has successfully represented and regularly assists international clients in enforcing their IP rights. He is regularly involved in obtaining injunctions against local infringers and recent examples include a manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals which infringed the patent rights of a major international pharamaceutical company; a local retailer for infringement of the copyright rights of a well-known French designer of furniture; a Cyprus based company for infringing the copyright and trade mark rights of an EU broadcaster in another EU member State; and a former franchisee of a well-known real estate franchise business in a post termination trade mark infringement case.
Alexandros frequently advises on anticounterfeiting issues and has assisted clients with designing and implementing their anti-counterfeiting strategy in Cyprus.
Distribution, Commercial & Franchise Agreements
Alexandros has developed broad experience in drafting and reviewing distribution, franchise and licensing agreements, advising clients, particularly foreign principals, on their commercial relationships with local distributors, agents, franchisees and other licensees or business partners, termination and post-termination compensation rights and all other matters relevant to such commercial relationships. He has also acquired extensive litigation experience in cases involving unlawful termination and post-termination disputes focusing on compensation, infringement of IP rights following termination of the licence to use the IP rights, collection of unpaid invoices or royalty fees and related matters.
Telecommunications, Media & Technology Law
Alexandros frequently advises domestic and international clients from a wide range of industries, to include technology, automotive and mobile telephony sectors, on regulatory and legal issues pertaining to the roll out of their respective services in Cyprus. He advises on prior licensing and notification requirements, e-commerce considerations, copyright and other IP law issue, data protection, online digital marketing and content requirements, cybersecurity and consumer protection issues.
Alexandros acts for local and international clients active in a wide range of industries such as the transport and automotive, technology, luxury goods and retail, food and beverage. He regularly advises on legal, regulatory and consumer law matters relevant to online services and e-commerce activities. A few examples of Alexandros’ work are, inter alia, the drafting of the Terms and Conditions of Cyprus-operated e-shops, advising on the compliance of a proposed in car connectivity service of a major car manufacturer with Cyprus laws and regulations and reviewing the terms and conditions of apps and software licences (both business to consumer and business to business).
Alexandros frequently acts for local and international clients from a wide range of industries who have faced data protection issues in their business. His recent work includes advising and assisting an international client in the implementation in Cyprus of a whistleblowing scheme, advising a major pharmaceutical company on data transfer issues and assisting them in obtaining the necessary transfer licences from the Office of the Cyprus Data Protection Commissioner and drafting of the privacy policy to be used on a governmental website.
