On 11 September 2017, our firm’s team – managing partner, Dr Kypros Chrysostomides, partner Victoria-Zoi Papagiannis and associate Alexandros Efstathiou, led by Professor/Barrister Takis Tridimas – represented 100 clients before the General Court of the European Union in a landmark action for damages in relation to the bail-in measures imposed on the Republic of Cyprus on March 2013 by the respondents, namely the Council of the EU, the European Commission, the ECB, the Eurogroup and the EU as a whole.
Our clients (the applicants), both natural and legal persons, are depositors, shareholders and bondholders of the Bank of Cyprus and the Popular Bank, who suffered losses as a result of the respondents’ actions breaching their rights to property, as well as, the principles of non-discrimination, legitimate expectations and proportionality.
