Seminar on Combating Violence Against Women & Girls in Cyprus

Senior associate and elected member of the Nicosia Bar Association Committee, Marilena Miltiadou, represented our firm in the seminar aimed at law professionals and concerning Combating Violence Against Women and Girls in Cyprus.

The seminar was organized, on the one hand by the Office of the Commissioner for Administration and Human Rights and on the other, by the Cyprus Bar Association, and was co-funded by the EU. The objective of the seminar was to inform and educate law professionals in Cyprus on legal issues related to violence against women and girls, and to assist them in their efforts on combating the phenomenon of gender violence.

The seminar focused on the legislative framework of combating violence against women and girls in Cyprus, on the dynamics of domestic violence, and covered rape and sexual abuse in a domestic violence context. It also addressed the key differences between Cyprus law and UK law, and covered human trafficking, prostitution and sexual exploitation as a serious organised crime.
