Energy Efficiency & Energy Performance Contracting in Cyprus

The European Union has identified Energy Efficiency as a valuable means to address and to tackle the unprecedented challenges resulting from increased dependence on energy imports and the need to limit climate change and to overcome the economic crisis.

The Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU) which has been transposed into Cyprus law with the respective amendment of the Energy Efficiency Law (31(1)/2009), established a common framework of measures for the promotion of Energy Efficiency within the European Union in order to facilitate the provision of Energy Services offered by Energy Savings Companies (ESCo) as well as from other Energy Service Providers, in the member states.
