Our firm acted as legal counsel to Daimler AG for the acquisition of a majority shareholding, with German football club FC Köln, in leading German esports organisation, SK Gaming.
Our competition law team advised the companies with respect to the merger control regime in Cyprus and prepared and submitted, on their behalf, the required notification to the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition. The transaction was successfully cleared by the Cyprus competition authority in April 2019.
The involvement in SK Gaming manifests Daimler’s commitment to professional gaming; it is the first vehicle manufacturer to invest in an esports brand.
