Introduction of the Data Protection Reform to the Judicial System

Senior associate Ioanna Sapidou participated as panel speaker in the workshop on the INFORM Project (Introduction of the Data Protection Reform to the Judicial System), in association with the Law Department of the University of Cyprus.

The project aims at providing a comprehensive understanding of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new Directive 2016/680 through the development of high qualitative training materials and an e-Learning programme. The project also examines the balance between personal data protection and other fundamental rights in order to deepen the expertise of legal professionals, in particular members of the judiciary and lawyers across the EU.

The objective of the particular workshop was to communicate the results of the project, but also to bring awareness to citizens about what their new rights introduced by the European reform in the field of personal data protection are.

Ioanna participated in a panel discussion regarding key issues and challenges for the legal profession in Cyprus, arising from the new data protection framework.
