Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry Public Procurement Seminar

Associates Despina-Maria Georgiadou and Alexandros Efstathiou attended a seminar on the new legislative framework on public procurement, on 29 June 2016, organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Philippos Katranis, the head of the Public Procurement Directorate of the Treasury of the Republic, who was the keynote speaker of the seminar, gave the attendees an update on the latest amendments to Cypriot legislation, particularly regarding public procurement procedures, as well as the future changes in legislation, regarding procurement by entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors, and on the award of concession contracts, which arise through the transposition of the pertinent EU directives.

Matters of particular interest were the innovations in “green” contracts, innovation partnerships, negotiated procedures, exclusion grounds, criteria for concession and the promotion of e-procurement.
